Barcelona is undoubtedly the most tourist city in Spain and one of the most popular in the world. As I am from Barcelona, I almost never stay at hotels in the city, so I have trouble making recommendations on this subject. However, this changed a bit a few weeks ago.
It turns out that one day they invited me to meet and spend the night in one of the hotels in the chain Ibis in Barcelona and, although I thought that these types of hotels did not fit my traveling style, I accepted the invitation to be able to speak and write about them with knowledge of the cause. It was a good decision: I discovered that I had many unfounded prejudices and that, after all, I had never been to an Ibis. But let's go in parts.
The event consisted of presenting the new beds that have just been put in all the Ibis hotels. They are practical hotels in terms of decoration, but super-luxury when it comes to beds. And it is that the current philosophy of this chain is to offer downtown hotels with standard and simple furniture and decoration, but giving great importance to the bed. It is designed for travelers who spend the whole day outside visiting the city, but when they arrive at the hotel they want to have a five-star break.
Ibis has three hotels in Barcelona. One near the Meridiana, next to the Heron City shopping center. It is well connected, but not very central. On the other hand, the other two are in the center: one recently opened near the Sagrada Familia and another in the Poblenou neighborhood, near the Agbar tower. This was where I stayed the night of the event.
The room had a nice but simple decoration: a small closet, a desk with a chair, a plasma television and the huge bed as absolute queen of the room. The sweet bed Ibis It is a bed designed exclusively for Ibis hotels, it is a luxury bed, very comfortable, from which the sheets stick to you.
